As part of the 7th ESFICON and the 6th Sir Ganga Ram Spine operative course, we are delighted to invite all faculty members,delegates and guests to join us for the 3rd Sir Ganga Ram Spine Oration—an evening dedicated to reflection, inspiration and the enduring values of service, compassion and philanthropy.

The Oration celebrates the remarkable legacy of Sir Ganga Ram, whose vision extended far beyond medicine. A distinguished engineer, visionary and philanthropist, he believed that knowledge and achievement acquire their true meaning when placed in the service of society. His contributions to healthcare, education, agriculture and the welfare of disadvantaged communities reflected a simple yet powerful philosophy: to build, to serve and to give back. That spirit continues to inspire generations at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

It is in this spirit that we are privileged to have Mr. Amitabh Shah, Founder of YUVA Unstoppable, deliver this year’s Oration on:

“The Healing Power of Gratitude and Compassion”

Amitabh Shah’s journey is a remarkable contemporary expression of purposeful service. After completing his MBA from Yale University, he chose to turn away from a promising Wall Street career with JPMorgan and dedicate himself to working on the ground in India. He subsequently founded YUVA Unstoppable, driven by the belief that education, dignity, opportunity and compassion can transform lives.

What began as a grassroots initiative has grown into a movement that has touched millions of children and communities across India, with work spanning education, health and nutrition, youth development, employability and the environment. His commitment to humanity and nation-building has received national and international recognition.

The connection between Sir Ganga Ram’s vision and Amitabh Shah’s journey is deeply meaningful. Both demonstrate that philanthropy is not merely about giving—it is about recognising human potential, restoring dignity and creating possibilities for a better future.

For us as doctors and surgeons, this message has a special resonance. We heal with science, but we serve with compassion. Gratitude reminds us of the privilege of caring for another human being; compassion reminds us of the responsibility that comes with that privilege.
